Three basic techniques
- Match
Match bubbles of the same colour
Aim and shoot towards a group of the same colour. Three or more touching bubbles of that colour will pop. Each popped bubble earns 10 points.
10 points per bubble - Bounce
Use the walls
Bubbles bounce off the side walls. Use a bounce to reach a group that's hard to hit directly, or aim through a narrow gap.
Go around an obstacle - Drop
Drop whole groups
Bubbles fall when they lose every connection to the ceiling. Each bubble that falls earns 20 points. Clear the whole board for another 500 points, then continue the same game with fresh starting rows.
20 points per dropped bubble
Choose your difficulty
Difficulty sets the starting number of colours and rows, and how many misses you can make before new rows appear. Start on Beginner to learn the game, or choose Intermediate or Expert for a more crowded board.
| Mode | Colours | Rows | Misses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beginner | 4 | 6 | 6 |
| Intermediate | 5 | 7 | 4 |
| Expert | 6 | 8 | 3 |
Before your first shot, changing the difficulty in settings takes effect straight away. Once you've fired a shot, you can start a new game on the difficulty you've chosen or keep playing your current game.
When new rows appear
There's no timer. Each shot that fails to remove a group uses up one of your allowed misses. The limit stays the same throughout the game: 6 on Beginner, 4 on Intermediate and 3 on Expert. Successful shots don't use up a miss, but they don't restore any either. When you reach the limit, a new row is added at the top and the counter resets. There's no limit on the total number of shots you can fire.
Remove every bubble of one colour and that colour stays out of new rows until you clear the entire board. The next batch then adds two rows. Eliminate a second colour and each batch adds three. No more than three rows are added at once.
New colours and clearing the board
The fifth colour becomes available at 1,500 points, and the sixth at 5,000. A new colour arrives with a scheduled row, at least ten shots after the game started or the previous colour was introduced. Intermediate starts with five colours. Expert uses all six from the start.
Clearing the board keeps your score and earns you a bonus. The starting rows for your chosen difficulty return, your miss allowance resets, and all colours you've unlocked come back. The next batch adds just one row again. If bubbles cross the bottom boundary, the game ends.
Controls
Board size and saved games
The grid size is chosen when you start a new game. On a large screen, the HD board has 17 bubbles in its longer rows. Smaller screens use 10. The grid stays the same for the rest of the game. High scores from both board sizes are shown together for each difficulty.
