1. Data controller
The website owner is responsible for processing personal data on bubble-shooter.net. Their name and postal address are listed in the Imprint.
For questions about privacy or to exercise your rights, email [email protected].
2. What information is used
Running this website involves technical data from web requests, saved games and preferences in your browser, visitor statistics and emails that visitors choose to send us.
The game has no registration, user accounts, purchases or communication between players. You do not need to provide your name, date of birth, email address or payment details to start a game.
3. Your game, settings and high scores
The game stores data in your browser's local storage (localStorage). This lets you resume a game when you return to the site and keeps your results and preferences:
- Game settings: sound and music track, difficulty, palette and background, graphics quality, aiming guide, reduced animation and tutorial status.
- Game state: bubble positions, score, shot history and the information needed to resume the game.
- Results: high scores and game dates, statistics on shots and board clears, successful shot streaks and earned achievements.
Saved data stays in the browser on your device. The game does not send it to a server, publish it on a shared leaderboard or transfer it between devices or browsers. If local storage is unavailable, the data stays in the page's memory and is lost when you close or reload the page.
4. The light and dark theme cookie
When you switch themes, the site saves your choice in the bubble.theme.v1 cookie. It stores only the value light or dark. The cookie contains no personal identifier and is not used to track visits.
Unlike game saves, this cookie is sent by your browser to the website server with requests. It lets the site display the page in your chosen theme straight away. The dark theme is used when there is no saved preference.
5. Data used to load the website
Your browser requests pages, fonts, images and music from the website server. To handle those requests, the server uses your IP address, the requested URL and technical HTTP headers. These include information about your browser and the theme cookie, if it is set. Whether the address of the previous page is sent depends on your browser settings and the referrer policy.
This data is used to deliver pages and files to your device. These requests do not include your game history, high scores or the contents of localStorage.
6. Visitor statistics: Umami
We use Umami Cloud to understand which pages people visit and which devices they use to open the game. The script loads from cloud.umami.is, and statistics are sent to gateway.umami.is. The provider is Umami Software, Inc., 28 Geary St, Suite 650 #243, San Francisco, California, United States.
Umami receives the address and title of the page viewed, referral source, visit time, browser language, screen size and information about the browser, operating system and device type. URL query parameters and fragments are excluded from collection. We do not send shots, scores, achievements, game settings, saved games or support emails to analytics. We have not enabled screen recording or recording of actions within the game board.
The service does not set analytics cookies. According to Umami's documentation, the IP address is used to determine an approximate location and is not stored in the statistics. Umami counts visits using calculated identifiers with a salt that changes periodically. We do not assign personal player identifiers.
For this website's Umami Cloud statistics, we have selected the EU data storage region in Frankfurt, Germany. The terms for processing and transfers, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, are set out in the Umami data processing agreement. Further details are available in the Umami privacy policy and its list of subprocessors.
Our tracker respects your browser's Do Not Track setting. When it is enabled, visitor statistics are not sent. Blocking the script in your browser does not affect your ability to play.
7. Email and feedback
When you email [email protected], we receive your sender address, the message, attachments and technical email information. We use this information to reply, consider a suggestion, fix a reported bug or handle a request about personal data. Email services deliver and store the correspondence.
Sending an email is voluntary. We need a return address to reply. Please provide any other information only if it is needed to deal with your enquiry. Do not send passwords or payment details.
There is no contact form on the website. The email link opens your email app; clicking it does not send a message.
8. Legal bases
We process technical requests and routine enquiries under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to provide a working website and answer visitors' questions. To meet our data protection obligations, including responding to requests about visitors' rights, we process data under Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
Storing and accessing information in your browser for the requested functions of saving games, results and settings is based on § 25(2)(2) TDDDG. This data is used for those functions, not for analytics or advertising.
We process Umami visitor statistics under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to understand how pages are used and keep the website easy to use. Collection is limited to the information described in section 6. It is not used to build advertising profiles.
9. Who receives the data
The infrastructure serving the website receives technical request data. Email services process messages you send, and the website owner reads your enquiry to consider it and reply. Game saves stay on your device.
The analytics data described in section 6 is received by Umami Software, Inc. and the infrastructure providers that serve Umami Cloud. The website owner can view the statistics in the Umami dashboard.
We do not sell personal data or share it with advertising systems. We disclose information to competent authorities when required by law.
10. Retention and deletion
Game data. The website does not set an expiry date for localStorage. Settings are updated when you change them, a new game replaces the current save, and the high score list is updated when results are saved. Data stays until it is deleted or overwritten. Your browser may also delete it.
Theme cookie. The cookie expires 365 days after it is saved. Switching themes updates its value and expiry date.
Visitor statistics. Data is kept in Umami Cloud for the period included in the service plan or until the website owner deletes it. Clearing your browser data does not delete statistics that have already been sent. For questions about deleting them, use the contact details in section 1.
Correspondence. We keep correspondence for as long as we need to review an enquiry and resolve the matter. We may retain it longer to meet legal obligations or defend our rights in a particular dispute.
You can delete cookies and localStorage by clearing the data for bubble-shooter.net in your browser settings. This also removes your game, high scores, statistics, achievements and settings. There is no server copy of your saves, so they cannot be restored after deletion. If your browser blocks data storage, the site cannot remember your settings or let you resume a game after closing the page.
11. Your rights
Subject to the conditions set out in the GDPR, you have the right to access your personal data and request its correction, deletion or restriction of processing. You also have the right to data portability. These rights are set out in Articles 15–20 GDPR.
You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation, under Article 21 GDPR. To make a request, email [email protected].
The website owner does not receive your local game saves and cannot delete them from your device. You can manage them through your browser settings as described above.
12. Children's data
The game does not ask for your age or create profiles of children. If a child sends personal data by email, a parent or legal guardian can contact us to request its deletion.
13. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the website's features or the way we process data changes. The date of the latest update appears at the top of the page. The current version is available at this address.
